Without a key, Rewind reads the channel's public RSS feed, which only exposes the 15 most recent uploads. A free key from Google Cloud Console (YouTube Data API v3) lets you search any date in the channel's history. The key lives only on this page while it's open — never stored, never sent anywhere but Google.

How each platform works. Dailymotion and Odysee have open public APIs — exact date filtering across a channel's entire history, no key needed. YouTube runs keyless off the channel RSS feed (last 15 uploads) or fully with your own free API key. Vimeo uses its public simple API, covering roughly the last 60 uploads. X/Twitter has no free public API, so Rewind builds the exact advanced-search query (from:user filter:native_video since/until) and opens it on X. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is stored anywhere.
